JavaScript Job Details

The Web CSS Javascript Developer bridges the creative and technical aspects of project delivery, develops and implements designs technically according to creative and art direction already established. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Executes through code complex designs that reflect the creative and art direction provided within the established technical framework
  • Creates coded Presentation Layer deliverables
  • Implements presentation layer requirements
  • Produces rapid interim deliverables (such as style guide components, prototypes, proofs of concept, etc.) in addition to the final live site or application.
  • Participates in writing detailed level technical and functional specifications documentation
  • Takes initiative to research and learn emerging technologies
  • Participates in the greater presentation layer community
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) from an accredited college/university in a related field of study such as Computer Science, MIS or Information Systems and six (6) years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming development experience; or Master’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of progressive experience in systems analysis and programming development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Expert knowledge developing and testing across multiple browsers, platforms, DOM implementations
  • Knowledge in developing accessible websites; such as, Section 508, and W3C WAI Guidelines
  • Knowledge of developing mobile websites using responsive design techniques
  • Knowledge of image production techniques
  • Knowledge of content entry into content management systems (CMS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of good design principles and ability to adhere to complex design specifications during implementation
  • Knowledge in Optimizing for Search Engines
  • Knowledge using ASP, ASP.Net or other frameworks used to develop dynamic web pages
  • Knowledge of XML: XSLT, DTD or Schema modeling
  • Possess strong written & oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to shift between a creative and a technical focus depending on the project need and/or the type of project
  • Ability to work in and bridge the creative with the technical across a variety of platforms and frameworks
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
